You will combine your technical background with a passion for people management to drive our Developer Experience (DX) strategy forward. Working cross-functionally, you will be the steward of our ecosystem, ensuring our technology is intuitive, accessible, and high-quality. The key qualifications for this role are software engineering expertise, empathy, and the ability to foster a self-directed team. What you will be doing: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of engineers responsible for the Auth0 CLI, Terraform Provider, Deploy CLI and SDKs. Collaborate with engineers on architectural decisions, RFCs, and code reviews to ensure our tools are robust, idiomatic, and secure. Drive project execution and agile processes, managing timelines, dependencies, and scope to ensure predictable delivery while refining product requirements. Define and enforce high standards for our open source repositories, ensuring rigorous code quality, automated release pipelines, and responsive issue triage. Grow engineers’ technical skills and impact through regular 1:1s, coaching, actionable feedback, and career advocacy. Partner with Product Management to balance new features for our developer tools with critical maintenance and technical debt. Collaborate with Core Engineering and Security teams to ensure our libraries seamlessly support the latest platform capabilities. Act as the steward for Developer Experience (DX), ensuring our tools and documentation set the industry standard for ease of use. Establish systems to ensure high availability and predictability of deliverables across multiple package managers and registries. Lead the recruitment of engineers who combine strong backend expertise (Node.js, Go) with genuine developer empathy. Cultivate a team environment of psychological safety, technical curiosity, and connection to the broader developer community. You are a good fit if you: Demonstrated success as an Engineering Manager fostering healthy, collaborative, and high-performing teams. A strong technical background with hands-on expertise in Node.js and Go. Deep experience with Terraform, specifically regarding Provider design, resource lifecycle management, and best practices. Experience designing and building developer-facing products like SDKs, libraries, Terraform providers, or CLIs (including a strong understanding of versioning strategies). Active participation in the Open Source community, with a clear understanding of maintainership, semantic versioning, and community engagement. A track record of growing engineers' skills and careers through coaching, actionable feedback, and performance management. Experience leading teams in a geographically distributed, asynchronous environment. Proficiency with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions), release automation, and software testing best practices. Excellent written and verbal skills; you can effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both engineers and product stakeholders. The ability to thrive with a high level of self-direction and drive value even when requirements are not fully defined. Bonus points for: We do not expect you to be an expert in everything below, only that you can learn the less familiar fast: Familiarity with authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth2, OIDC, SAML). Deep experience in both Node.js and Go ecosystems (versus just one). A history of technical writing, blogging, or speaking at conferences to advocate for developer tools. Specific experience building custom Terraform Providers. Experience managing or moderating large developer communities or forums.
