We are looking for a highly independent and proactive Senior Software Engineer to be the dedicated developer for the Technical Content team. You will play a crucial role in improving the efficiency, quality, and delivery of our customer documentation by building custom tools, automating workflows, and maintaining the documentation website infrastructure. You will be the sole developer on our team, collaborating closely with other development and infrastructure teams across the company to ensure our technologies and processes are always aligned.
The Technical Content team operates globally, following a flexible hybrid schedule that balances team collaboration with dedicated work time.

Design and Build Custom Solutions: Act as the lead developer to design, build, and maintain scripts, web applications, and tools using PHP, Python, React/Next JS, and PowerShell that automate the Technical Content team’s processes, enhance consistency, and improve content quality.
Source Control and Project Management: Expertly manage code repositories, handle complex merges, and ensure best practices for code quality and branching strategies using Git/GitHub. Efficiently manage and track all development tasks and projects using Jira.
Cross-Team Alignment: Proactively engage and work closely with UI, web development, and infrastructure teams to coordinate and implement improvements for the documentation sites and content delivery systems. Champion the Technical Content team's needs, ensuring seamless collaboration and technological alignment.
System Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Provide tier-one support and general troubleshooting for the team’s documentation tools, build processes, and content systems. Rapidly develop and deploy quick, ad-hoc scripts (e.g., for content migration, data extraction, and process automation) to solve immediate problems and support urgent team needs.
Optimize Workflow: Actively assess and evaluate existing team processes and workflows to identify and propose technical solutions that enhance content creation, deployment efficiency, and overall effectiveness.

Senior-level proficiency with core languages essential to our stack, including PHP, Python, React/Next JS (or equivalent modern JavaScript frameworks), and PowerShell.
Demonstrated expertise in the developer toolkit, specifically GitHub (branching, pull requests, code review) and Jira (task management, project tracking, and workflow configuration).
Proven ability to work successfully as the sole developer on a dedicated team, demonstrating high organizational skills, self-management, and the initiative to proactively reach out to other engineering teams to ensure process and technology alignment.
Strong aptitude for general software and system troubleshooting, diagnosing build issues, and quickly deploying solutions or ad-hoc scripts to resolve technical problems for non-developer colleagues.
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a strong understanding of web architecture, API integrations, and documentation delivery systems.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage a varied workload while thriving in a fast-paced environment; flexibility and adaptability will be essential for success in this role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with various teams within SolarWinds, including Technical Content, Development, Support, and others involved in product delivery to the IT community.
Equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is acceptable.
